Different types of databases
EyeQuestion offers three types of databases, namely the Attribute Database (ADB) for storing attributes and adding questions in bulk, the Product Database (PDB) for storing product-related information such as brand, EAN etc. and the Central Database (CDB), which is useful for comparing interval (scale) data across projects.
Note: the Central Database is an extra paid feature. This is (standard) included in the corporate package. But not in the essential and/or the professional package.
Benefits of using the EyeQuestion databases
The use of a database can bring benefits such as standardization across projects and teams, increased efficiency and speed, and easier project reporting. It may require planning and configuration time, and may not be the best option for consumer research. You can discuss with the EyeQuestion support team whether this functionality is the most convenient for you (
support@eyequestion.nl).
Attributes Database (ADB)
The attribute database can be used to store a large amount of attributes, there is no limitation. There are multiple benefits of using the attribute database, you can work quicker and more efficient because you can select multiple attributes and add them in bulk. This will make it easier to create a questionnaire.
Step 1.
To add attributes into the database you need to create an excel file with data first. This is an example of how a datasheet could look like. There are no restrictions in place on how to set up the attribute properties.
Step 2.
To get to the Attributes Database you click on Tools > Data Tools > Attributes Database
Step 3.
Now you can import the datasheet into the attributes database by clicking on the Import Attributes button.
Select the datasheet from your computer and click on the upload button to add the data to the Attributes Database.
Then you need to give an unique ID to the attributes from the imported datasheet. This you will do by selecting an item ID column using the drop down function. Optionally, a prefix and suffix can also be set up. After the properties have been set up click on the import button to add the data to the attributes database.
An overview of your uploaded data will be presented.
Step 4.
Once you start working with the attributes database you will have an additional button when you want to add a question. The Import Question button is now visible and is linked directly to the attributes database.
Select the attributes you want to import to your questionnaire by ticking the box and click the import button.
The Question type of your choosing will be added to the questionnaire, like in the example a line scale is added.
You can also add attributes as matrix. If you select the attributes and click on add as matrix, the software will automatically add a question as a matrix with sub questions.
Add as matrix:
If you do not specify a question type in the attributes database, EyeQuestion will ask you to choose one. It will show you a list of the attributes you want to include, you can select them and then select which question type you want to use to import.
