How to Edit Data in a Project

Introduction

Sometimes finished-session data needs to be corrected after the fact, for example when a panellist made a mistake during a test. EyeQuestion gives you two ways to fix this, depending on how many sessions are affected:
  • Single session editing, for correcting one panellist's data directly in the Finished Sessions list.
  • Bulk update (data re-import), for correcting many sessions at once by exporting the data, editing it in Excel, and re-importing it.

This article covers both.

Editing a single finished session

If only one or two panellists made a mistake, edit their session directly instead of exporting and re-importing data.
  1. Go to the Finished Sessions list for your project.
  2. Find the panellist's session in the list.
  3. In the Actions column, click the pencil icon (Edit Session).
  4. Correct the answer values as needed, then save.

This is the fastest option for isolated corrections and doesn't require a file export or import.

Bulk update: data re-import

When you need to correct data across many finished sessions, editing records one at a time is slow. With bulk update data re-import, you export finished-session data, correct the answer values in Excel, and re-import the corrected file. EyeQuestion validates your file against the original export before saving anything, so headers, identifiers, rows, columns, and overall file structure stay protected. Only answer values can be changed.
How it works
  1. Export the finished-session data you want to correct by clicking Raw Data Export. 
  2. Open the exported file in Excel and correct the answer values you need to change. Do not alter headers, identifiers, or the row/column structure, since these are locked and used to validate the file on import.
  3. Open the Bulk update dialog and upload your corrected file. The project must have status Closed.
  4. EyeQuestion validates the file against the original export. If the structure or any locked field has changed, the import is rejected.
  5. Once validation passes, the corrected answer values are saved .

Things to know

  • Anonymous sessions or imported projects cannot be edited. 
  • Bulk edit data is only available upon request. If you are interested in having this feature please connect with support@eyequestion.nl. 
  • It's not possible to add or remove rows within the bulk update date. 
  • Only specific question type can be edited from the bulk update data. These are: 
    • Category
    • Pick Any
    • Text
    • Line scale 
    • Matrix
