Widgets provide the core functionality within EyeOpenR Insight. There are a large range of Widgets to choose from, each designed for a different purpose, for example for analysing your data, displaying your results or telling your story. You can select any combination of Widgets to construct a board that best suits your goals. There are two broad categories of widgets, those that implement specific analysis methods (e.g. the analysis methods you can find in EyeOpenR created, validated & documented by Qi Statistics) and general purpose widgets that offer quick methods of displaying your data, understanding your data or telling your story. Further information on each type of widget (e.g. their purpose, their parameters, how to interpret their output) can be found in other articles within the Knowledge Base with links to these articles accessible via the widget (see below ‘Within Widget Menus’ section).
The ‘Widget Sidebar’ can be accessed by clicking the icon highlighted below. The highlighted button will expand (or collapse) the ‘Widget Sidebar’. This sidebar offers the options to:
Add widgets to your board
Remove specific widgets from your board
Adjust the order of the widgets currently displayed on your board
Adjust the width of widget that will be added to your board
In the top right corner of every widget you will find the ‘within widget menu’, click the drop down button to reveal its content.
The within widget menu will in almost all cases offer the following options that allow you to adjust or access properties specific to the given widget.
Display: This allows you to access the core outputs of the widget
Properties: Here you can adjust the widget method options/parameters to adjust the function it implements and also the widget title which is displayed at the top of the widget.
Filters & Groups: Options here allow you to change what data this individual widget can access and analyse, or how it splits this data for separate analyses/outputs.
Downloads: This menu allows access to the various export options for the given widget
Help: Here you will find links to relevant Knowledge Base articles that offer detailed information on the widgets' purpose, outputs and parameters.
Delete: Click this option if you wish to remove the given widget from your board.
To move a widget: Click & drag the title bar at the top of your widget (highlighted in the below screenshot) to the desired location on your board.
To resize a widget: Click & drag the corner of the widget to adjust the height and width of the widget.
Go to the ‘Widget’ Sidebar -> ‘Add Widgets’ section shown below:
Step 1: Click on the drop down to reveal the menu of widgets to choose from. Select the widget(s) you wish to add from the list. You can add up to 6 widgets at a time using this function.
Step 2: Click the ‘Add Widget(s)’ button to add the widget to the board.
If you wish to add more than six widgets simply repeat the above process selecting the next 1-6 widgets.
Go to the ‘Widget’ Sidebar -> ‘Change Widget Order’ section shown below:
Step 1: Click and drag the titles of each widget on your board to the new order you wish to be displayed.
Step 2: Click the ‘Confirm Widget Order’ button shown below for the new order to be applied to your board (the new order will be rendered on the board left to right, top to bottom).
Go to the ‘Widget’ Sidebar -> ‘Default Widget Width’ section shown below:
The ‘Default Widget Width’ option allows you to define the width for any new widgets that will be added to your board (it will not adjust the width of widgets already on the board).
Step 1: Adjust the slider to the desired widget width (12 = full width of the board).
Step 2: Click the ‘Apply’ button to save this setting so any new widgets added to the board will be of the newly defined width.
If you wish to delete a single widget you can select the ‘Delete’ option in the ‘within widget menu’ of the widget you wish to delete.
Or to delete multiple widgets simultaneously go to the ‘Widget’ Sidebar -> ‘Remove Widgets’ section shown below:
Step 1: Click the drop down menu to reveal the list of widgets currently on your board, select from this list the widget(s) you wish to remove.
Step 2: Click the ‘Remove Widget(s)’ button shown below to remove the widget(s) from your board.
We are working towards the goal of EyeOpenR Insight offering a widget for every analysis method available in EyeOpenR and to implement all analysis options available within each EyeOpenR function. However, until this goal is achieved some analysis methods will remain only available in EyeOpenR also not all options for a given analysis method available in EyeOpenR will be available within the widget properties within EyeOpenR Insight.
