How to Create and Manage Project Templates

Introduction

Template Management enables users to streamline their project workflow by managing templates across multiple sites, making project creation faster and more efficient.
Templates serve as the building blocks for future projects, allowing you to replicate and reuse project structures, questions, and settings. To access this functionality, user needs to have a Template Manager Profile.

Creating a Template

To create a template, users must begin by opening a project and navigating to Advanced Tools page. Here, the Template Manager or any user with the necessary module privileges will find an additional option called "Save as Template."

1. Click on Settings>Advanced Tools>Save as Template.

2. Provide a name for your template, choose the destination folder for saving, and then click on the "Save" button.

3. Once the template is saved, it is essential to activate it before use. Go to Site Management>Project Templates.

4. By default, templates are created with a status of "DRAFT." Activate your template using the action button.

You will be now able to select this template when creating a project by clicking Project>Create Project>Custom Template.

Modifying a Template

Templates in EyeQuestion come with a versioning system to ensure smooth collaboration and tracking of changes.
When a template is edited and subsequently activated, the version number increases, making it easy to keep tabs on the template evolution.
The three primary template statuses are as follows:
  1. DRAFT: Templates start in this status, indicating that they are works in progress.
  2. ACTIVE: When a template is ready for use, it can be activated, signifying that it is in an operational state.
  3. INACTIVE: Templates can also be deactivated if they are no longer needed or require further modifications.
