Introduction
You can use the Multilingual setting to create a questionnaire where participants can choose between different languages. This setting allows you to create a questionnaire in multiple languages without having to create multiple questionnaires.
Set Up a Questionnaire Multilingual
1. To make a question multilingual go first to the Settings page. In the Project Settings page enable the Multilingual setting.
2. When editing a question you can switch to different languages to edit for a specific language. Switching to a different language is done by selecting the language in the list on the right-hand side of the screen.
The default language is the version that is displayed when the test is not multilingual or when the panelist's language is not available. The default language can be set in the Project settings.
The appropriate flag will appear after switching from Default to a specific language. If your default language is Norwegian (as in the example), you will not need to translate it in the Norwegian questionnaire. You can write your questions in Norwegian in the "Default" version of the questionnaire. All you have to do is translate it into the English questionnaire, or any other language you prefer.
All flagged settings must be set for this specific language. You can also set language-specific anchors when using a Line scale. Items must be adjusted when using a category question, for example.
When a language is selected, the screen and overall preview will present the questions in that language.
How to automatically translate your instruction and answer value in a Multilingual questionnaire
Once you have created the questionnaire in your default language, you can select the language you want to have the translation by clicking on the "Default" button.
By clicking on the flag close to your default text an automatic translation will be shown.
Same can be done with the answer options.
How Can Panellists Select Their Language
Panellists can select their language in two ways:
1. They can choose their preferred language before logging in by clicking on the appropriate language.
2. Alternatively, they can choose the language in which they one to conduct the test at the very beginning of the questionnaire.
First, you need to add a one-choice question.
