Product Database (PDB)

Product Database (PDB)

Different types of databases

EyeQuestion offers three types of databases, namely the Attribute Database (ADB) for storing attributes and adding questions in bulk, the Product Database (PDB) for storing product-related information such as brand, EAN etc. and the https://support.eyequestion.nl/portal/en/kb/articles/central-database-cdb-functionality, which is useful for comparing interval (scale) data across projects.

Note: the Central Database is an extra paid feature. This is (standard) included in the corporate package. But not in the essential and/or the professional package.

Benefits of using the EyeQuestion databases

The use of a database can bring benefits such as standardization across projects and teams, increased efficiency and speed, and easier project reporting. It but, may require planning and configuration time, and may not be the best option for consumer research.  You can discuss with the EyeQuestion support team whether this functionality is most convenient for you (support@eyequestion.nl).

Product database

Using a product database in EyeQuestion has various advantages. The first benefit is that it allows you to centralize your product information across several projects. This is especially beneficial if you are working on multiple projects at the same time. In this way, even if you use the same product in multiple projects, the product details will remain consistent. It also allows you to work faster and more efficiently since when you create a questionnaire, you can select products from your product database without having to do so manually.

The product database can be used to store all kind of information about your product(s) for example: ingredients, brand name, size etc. This information needs to be imported in EyeQuestion through an Excel document in which all your product information is stored.

How to import product information in the product database

Step 1: Start

Before product information can be imported to be used in a EyeQuestion project, an Excel file with product information has to be created. The image below shows an example on how an Excel file can be created to be used with the Products Database.

We have chosen to have a few distinguishing properties imported related to the products given in the example. There are no restrictions in place on how these properties have to be set up, so you are free to choose and name them as you would like.

Step 2:  Importing the Product information Excel file

After the Excel file has been created, go to EyeQuestion and from the Tools dropdown select “Product Database”. In this page, click on the import button to import your Excel file. Choose the file from your computer and press the upload button.

Step  3:  Changing information in the PDB

To modify information in the Product Database, it is important to follow a few steps. First and foremost, it is necessary to export the existing database to ensure that the latest information is available. This step helps to avoid any discrepancies that may arise due to outdated information. When working with a large team, it is also beneficial to restrict access to the database. This measure ensures that only authorized personnel can modify the data, reducing the likelihood of errors or unauthorized changes.

Moreover, suppose your company already has an existing database. In that case, it may be worthwhile to invest in integrating it with EyeQuestion to streamline the data management process and increase efficiency. Feel free to send an email to support@eyequestion.nl in case you are interested on this functionality.

Importing products information in your EyeQuestion Project

Once the Product database is properly configured, you may easily import the product properties saved in the product database into your product project information.

To import product properties from your product database, first navigate to your project and select Design>Product.

Once on the product page, click "Import">"Import from PDB" to import the product properties directly from the Product database.

Choose the products you wish to include in your products properties and click "Add" to add new products or "Overwrite" to overwrite the current product information.

The information will be automatically added to the product properties.
