Introduction

EyeOpenR Insight allows you to save properties of your board so you can quickly apply a predefined set of properties to other datasets (i.e. via Templates) or return to working on your board at a later date. Below are details of these functions and explanations of how to use them.

EO Insight Templates

A template is a set of board properties that can be saved as a ‘template’ and then later quickly applied to other datasets. For example you may wish to create a template if you consistently run similar analyses, or need to report results in a similar structure (e.g. routine testing reports, management reports, panel reports). Currently in EO Insight, when you save your board as a ‘Template’, this allows you to store the ‘board title’, ‘widget types’ (e.g. Pie Chart, ANOVA, Descriptive Statistics), the ‘layout of the widgets’, the’ widget parameters’ and the ‘widget titles’ for all of the widgets currently on your board. When you load a new dataset into EO Insight you can then load a template, which will in turn fill your board with the set of widgets defined in the template and any other properties you decide to store in the template. EyeOpenR also comes with a set of default templates (these will be further developed and added to in future versions of EO Insight) which are carefully designed to create boards for specific purposes (e.g. data exploration, panel analysis, sensory (QDA) data, etc) allowing you to build a board for any of these tasks with a couple of clicks.

NOTE: Widget parameters that name attributes or products the new dataset does not have are skipped, so those widgets open on their own default settings.

How to load a Template

Step 1: Click on the ‘Templates’ logo in the sidebar to reveal the ‘Templates’ sidebar or choose the ‘Load a Template’ option within the ‘Board Builder’

Step 2: In the ‘Load Template’ section, select from the drop down list the template you wish to load. Or if you wish to import a template from an .EOiT file click the toggle highlighted below [2B] to select ‘External .EOiT’ then select the template file you wish to upload.

Step 3: Click the ‘Load Template’ button to load the template onto your board.

Important Additional Information: Widgets are initialised with the full dataset unless ‘Global’ filters are applied. Therefore, for large boards or datasets we recommend applying filters before adding widgets to your board, then adjusting ‘Widget’ level filters once widgets are added. How to create/save a new Template

Step 1: Add the widgets you wish to save in your template to the board. 

Step 2: Arrange the widgets on your board in the order you wish to save in your template.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Templates’ logo in the sidebar to reveal the ‘Templates’ sidebar.

Step 4: In the ‘Save Template’ section, provide a name for your new template (if a template already exists with this name it will be overwritten). Should you also wish to generate a file containing the template you can share or upload in a different EOi account use the toggle ‘Template Save Mode’ [A] to choose the ‘Save + Download’ option.

Step 5: Click the ‘Save as Template’ button to save the template to your EO Insight account [and, if selected, download the template file].

How to delete a Template

Step 1: Click on the ‘Templates’ logo in the sidebar to reveal the ‘Templates’ sidebar.

Step 2: In the ‘Delete Template’ section, select from the drop down list the template you wish to delete.

Step 3: Click the ‘Load Template’ button to load the template onto your board.

EO Insight Sessions

Every time you login to EyeOpenR Insight you will enter an EyeOpenR Session. This can be a new session or a previously saved session. In a new session the board will be empty, a demo dataset loaded and all settings reset to defaults (i.e. no filters applied, etc). If you have previously saved an EO Insight session in the pop-up that will appear immediately after you login you will be asked whether you wish to load a previous session. 

How to save a Session

Step 1: Click the Session logo in the sidebar

Step 2 (Optional): If you wish to additionally download a file containing your session you can then share with others or upload to EOi at a later date then toggle the ‘Session Save Mode’ button to the ‘Save + Download’ setting.

Step 3: Click the ‘Save Session’ button in the ‘Save Session’ section. A pop-up should appear allowing you to save the session and/or delete existing sessions.

Important Additional Information: Please note that not all properties of your session will be saved. To check the list of properties that are included in a ‘saved session’ click the information icon highlighted in the below screenshot (A).

How to load a Session

Step 1: [If you are already starting a new session go to step 3] If you are already logged in to a session in EO Insight you can load a previous session (or start a new session) by first clicking on the session icon in the sidebar to reveal the session sidebar.

Step 2: In the ‘Load/Reset Session’ section click the ‘Load/Reset Session’ button.

Step 3: When the session (re)starts a popup will appear asking whether you wish to load your previous session [Option A, should a saved session exist] or upload a session from an .EOiS file [Option B]

How to delete a Session

Step 1: Click the Session logo in the sidebar

Step 2: Click the ‘Save Session’ button in the ‘Save Session’ section. A pop-up should appear allowing you to save the session and/or delete existing sessions.

NOTE: Currently in EyeOpenR Insight you can save up to a maximum of 10 sessions. If you have already saved 10 sessions you will need to delete a session before saving a new one.
