EyeOpenR is an advanced statistical analysis and reporting tool integrated within the EyeQuestion software suite. Built on the R statistical language and developed in collaboration with Qi Statistics Ltd., EyeOpenR allows users to perform complex statistical analyses, enhancing data analysis productivity and flexibility.
Introduction to EyeOpenR
EyeOpenR is designed to provide
comprehensive statistical analysis tools directly within the EyeQuestion
platform. It supports a wide range of methods, including sensory and consumer
testing, making it a versatile choice for data analysis.
Accessing EyeOpenR
You can access EOR through
several methods:
- From Home screen: Select Tools > Analysis Tools > EyeOpenR;

- From the Home screen: Click on the quick action button of the project with data which you want to analyze;

- From within the project: Navigate to Data tab and click on the EOR logo.

Navigating the EyeOpenR Workflow
EyeOpenR follows a structured, multi-step
workflow to guide you through the analysis process.
Method Step
- This is the initial screen where you select the analysis method
or report for your data.
- You can toggle between Method and Report views in
the upper right corner.

If your environment has customized reports, you can access them
here.
Additional information about each of the available methods can be found by accessing the following link:
Data Analysis
After selecting the desired method or report, click the blue arrow to move further to the next screen.
Dataset Step
- This step displays the dataset linked to your project.
You can add multiple datasets, merge them, and run analysis on
the combined data.
More information about how to merge your data by accessing the Knowledge Base article below:
Quality Step
Moving forward, you will reach the Quality step. Here,
you can review the overall quality of your data, checking for inconsistencies
or errors.
Selection Step
- Filter the data for analysis, including panellists, attributes,
products, or specific sessions.
- Attributes are color-coded based on their data type. Hover over
the "?" icon for details.
You can bulk select/deselect attributes of a certain datatype by clicking on the question mark "?" and then clicking on the datatype you want to affect.

- On this step, filtering the data is possible by using the Split on Unique Answer Values option or the Data Query filter.
Additional information about how to use the Data Query filter can be found by accessing the following article - How to Filter your Data before the Analysis
- Below each of the columns, you have the possibility to bulk select/deselect attribute or revert the last change made.
Analysis Step
- As you reach the Analysis step you will be able to select the preferred analysis available based on the method chosen in the first step of EOR.
Options Step
- In this step you will have various settings specific to the analysis selected which you can configure, including the possibility to split result on Assessor Metadata.
Results Step
- View your final results and download them as Excel or PowerPoint files.
Click
the corresponding icon in the upper right corner to initiate the download.

Splitting Data on Unique Answer Values
EyeOpenR offers the following possibilities for splitting the data based on certain answer values:
1.Splitting on Unique Answer values
In EyeOpenR, the "Split on unique answer values" option, available in the Selection step, allows users to segment the results based on the distinct values within a selected question in the test. This functionality is especially relevant when it’s helpful to examine the data subdivided by a response pattern.
For example:
- If you have a variable like "Age Group" with values "18-25", "26-35", and "36-50", using this option would produce separate charts or tables for each age group.
- If you have a question asking the panellist’s gender. Splitting the results based on this QT will split your results into separate charts per each gender.

It is important to note that when this option is used for Frequency Analyses, it should only be used on one attribute at the time.
This option is available in the Options Step in EyeOpenR, and it allows users to effectively utilize quota information and category questions to split the analysis results on this assessor metadata.
- Split on Quota - option that allows you to split the results based on the quota you have set up in your project.
Panellists results will be displayed split in 2 separate tabs - Screened in/Out in the quota QT.
- Split on EQ categories - offers the possibility to split the results in EyeOpenR based on the categories of the panellists that you previously have selected in the project's Reporting settings.
In the reporting setting of your project you have the option to select which categories should be available later on in EOR to filter your results.
After the categories have been selected, in EOR in the selection step you will be able to visualize and select individually on which category you would like to split the results on:
In the results step, you will then be able to see the results split on the category data linked to the panellist.
Note -Split on Unique Answer Values option is at the moment included for the following Sensory and Consumer methods:
- Descriptive Statistic
- Tables of Means
- Bar Chart of Means
- Bar Chart with Significance
- Line Chart of Means
- Line Chart of Significance
- Spider Plot of Means
- Spider Plot with Significance
- Frequency Tables (continuous)
- Frequency Tables (categorical)
- Conjoint Analysis
