Introduction

EyeOpenR Insight is an advanced tool for data analysis and visualisation specifically designed for use with Consumer and Sensory data. Built on the trusted EyeOpenR platform and validated by Qi Statistics, it offers a broad range of tools that allow you to explore, interpret, and share your research results with speed, depth, precision and clarity.

NOTE: In our documentation, for brevity, the name ‘EyeOpenR Insight’ may be shortened to ‘EO Insight’ or ‘EOi’.

Navigating EyeOpenR Insight

The above screenshot shows an empty EyeOpenR Insight Board:

• The ‘Board’ is the large white panel in the center of the screen. 

• At the top center of the screen is the ‘Board Title’

• In the top right corner are the ‘Navbar Buttons’. The button on the far right of this group, containing the arrow, is the ‘Log out’ button, you can click this button when you wish to end your EyeOpenR Insight session and logout of the application. The info button to the left of the ‘Log out’ button provides a link to this EyeQuestion Knowledge Base where you can access detailed information on the functionality within EyeOpenR Insight.

• On the left side of the screen is the EyeOpenR Insight Sidebar which allows you to access the majority of functionality within the application. The sidebar can be expanded by clicking any of the icons. To collapse the sidebar simply click the icon again or click anywhere within the EyeOpenR Insight Board.

HOME 

• The Home sidebar, accessed by clicking the ‘Home’ icon in the EO Insight sidebar (A, in screenshot below), provides an overview of key dataset metrics, board title and author, last saved timestamp, and data origin details.  

• Complete Data Metrics: the tiles shown here record the number of unique Panelists, Attributes, Products & Sessions identified within your project dataset. You can click on any of the metric tiles to reveal a list of all unique items (C). Data for all elements recorded may not have necessarily been collected (e.g. product or session may be registered in an EyeQuestion project but the data not yet collected). The ‘Active Data Metrics’ by contrast in the ‘Filters’ side bar displays the ‘Active’ data available to all tiles on your board (i.e. number of Products, Attributes, Sessions and Panelists for which data is available for analysis) for further details see the EyeOpenR Insight Filter & Groups Knowledge Base article.

• Throughout EyeOpenR Insight there are ‘clickable’ information icons represented by a white question mark within a blue circle (B). When clicked they provide additional information and explanation of the functions available.

• The text box labeled ‘Title’ (D) allows the user to provide a title for the Board. When the ‘Update’ button (E) is clicked the Board title is updated with the new title provided in the text box.

• Author: the EyeOpenR Insight user who created the current Board

• Last Saved: the time and date the current EyeOpenR Insight session was last saved

• Data Origin: the source of the data currently active in the EyeOpenR Insight session

IMPORT DATA

• The functions accessible via the Import Data sidebar allow the user to upload datasets or retrieve project data directly from their EyeQuestion environment.

WIDGETS

• EyeOpenR Insight Boards are constructed by adding ‘Widgets’. Each ‘Widget’ performs a specific task, enabling you to: understand your data, analyse your data and/or communicate your data’s story. Widgets can be added, deleted & reordered via the ‘Widgets’ sidebar.

FILTERS

• Functions available in the ‘Filters’ sidebar allow users to apply complex filters to their data, subset their data into ‘Groups’ that can then be added to the board and track the impact of filters on their dataset

AI ASSISTANCE

• Access the suite of AI tools available in EyeOpenR Insight via the AI assistance sidebar. Such tools include the AI Chatbots, AI Widget Generator and AI Dashboard generator.

TEMPLATES

• Functions in the ‘Templates’ sidebar allow the user to quickly apply default or custom templates to their dataset to construct their Board, each template designed for a specific task and/or form of data

EXPORT

• Functions in the ‘Export’ sidebar allow you to download an ‘interactive’ version of your board to share or export your results to Mircrosoft Excel or PowerPoint

SESSIONS

• Via the Sessions sidebar users can save their current EyeOpenR Insight session, start a new session or reload a previous session.

Building Your EyeOpenR Insight Board

On starting EyeOpenR Insight a welcome menu will appear offering the following options:

1. Load a previously saved session from your EOi account [Only displayed if a saved session exists in the EOi account]

2. Upload an .EOiS file containing a previously saved EOi session

3. Upload data directly from an EyeQuestion Project (Enable by contacting support@eyequestion.nl)

4. Upload data from an excel or csv file

If you choose to ‘Upload External Dataset’ this will trigger first the ‘Data Import Wizard’, followed by the ‘Board Builder’ in which there is the following menu:

1. Here you can provide a title which will be displayed at the top of your board

1. Select this option if you wish to select each widget that will be added to your board

2. Select this option if you wish to load a template (i.e. a set of predefined widgets)

3. Select this option if you wish to use the AI Board Generator to inspect your dataset and select suitable widgets to add to your board [also allows input of optional description of your goals/board’s purpose]

Once the above pop-ups have closed to add ‘Widgets’ to your board you can use any one of the following three options:

• You can add widgets one by one by choosing individual widgets from the ‘Add Widget’ Menu in the ‘Widget Sidebar: See this Knowledge Base Article 

• You can load a Template containing a pre-defined set of widgets selected for a specific task by using the ‘Load Template’ function in the ‘Templates’ sidebar [available only if the board is empty of widgets]: See this Knowledge Base Article 

• You can ask the ‘AI Dashboard Generator‘ to inspect your data and your goals and then build a board for you by using the ‘AI Dashboard Generator‘ in the ‘AI Assistance’ sidebar [available only if the board is empty of widgets]: See this Knowledge Base Article 

Important Additional Information: Widgets are initialised with the full dataset unless ‘Global’ filters are applied. Therefore, for large boards or datasets we recommend applying filters before adding widgets to your board, then adjusting ‘Widget’ level filters once widgets are added.
